I N T R O D U C T I O N

Engage Together is a non-profit organization that has a vision to end human trafficking and protect the vulnerable. Human trafficking is a $150 billion per year industry. It is a form of modern slavery for purposes of sexual exploitation, forced labor or services, or organ trafficking. They reached out to Pomerol to assist them in managing their data efficiently, keeping in mind that their security was of the utmost importance to them.

 

C H A L L E N G E

Oftentimes, in the fight against human trafficking in the non-profit sector, the efforts are fragmented and it’s difficult to find the right resources. There are private organizations and federal, state, county and local resources, but finding the right resources in times of need can be challenging. Also, in some geographies, there are fundamental gaps in the services needed – Prevention, Rescue/Exit, Identification, Restoration, Reforms. Engage Together had tried other dashboard tools but they were not able to deal with the complexity of the data and ensure the security necessary for this sensitive information. They were also manually creating directories of providers that required a lot of manual effort and were outdated almost as soon as they were complete.

 

S T A K E H O L D E R S

The operations team that we worked with consolidates information through a comprehensive survey tool, enriches the data, and, produces both an analytics application to identify gaps and a directories of resources that their partners publish on their web sites.

 

S O L U T I O N

We were able to extract data at multiple levels of granularity from a survey built on the Heroku platform. We then enriched that data with multiple open source crime data sets and combined it with additional survey information from Typeform. From a security standpoint, we have Global Administrators with access to all information, area coordinators with access to a smaller set of information and other users with access just to their own information.

R E S U L T

Pomerol helped integrate multiple systems to provide analytics around course and certification progress. As an example, part of the fight against human trafficking is educating the public. Engage Together’s Justice U (https://learnwithjusticeu.com) has hundreds of learning opportunities available to individuals and companies.
