As we close out a very busy first half of 2022, there is much to reflect on.

Face to face meetings are back (I couldn’t be happier about this), which has been a very welcome change on the last couple of years. Pleasingly, I have seen a real shift away from the very formal business meeting to a far more enjoyable and productive casual affair.

With global travel restrictions easing, we also managed to get our partners together for our long awaited bi-annual partner meeting. The H1 2022 meeting was held in Denver Colorado and was brilliantly hosted by one of our partners Scott Duthie. We had a very busy agenda to cover off, but with early starts and late finishes we also managed to fit in some amazing meals, a round of golf, baseball game and for the majority of the partners a first-time experience of an indoor shooting range.

Our Denver meet allowed us to also meet our newest partner based out of our London office Leon Gordon.

Leon and I had been in conversation for some time (January 2021 to be precise) about the general Microsoft data ecosystem and our interactions within it.

From a Pomerol perspective we have seen incredible growth within our Microsoft offering to our clients with 7 figure growth in both the EMEA and North American practises in the last 12 months. Bringing someone of Leon’s calibre with a global Microsoft MVP recognition was the logical next step in ensuring we continue to provide the best service possible to our clients.

As one of only 33 Microsoft Data Platform MVP’s in the UK, Leon has a direct line into the Microsoft product development teams and is able to offer our clients a very unique advisory and strategy outlook for their data investments.

The existing partners and I are thrilled to have Leon on board and have already seen the huge benefits his expertise brings to our clients. Likewise, Leon’s existing client base are also seeing the advantage of being part of the larger Pomerol group and being able to leverage the expertise and experience from our offices throughout the US, UK and Portugal.

With demand for consultancy and advisory continuing to grow at pace, the second half of 2022 will be exciting and challenging at the same time. Our Portugal office is growing weekly and we are embarking on a number of new exciting projects globally.

My personal challenge for the year will be trying to match the amazing hospitality and planning that we saw in Denver a couple of weeks ago for our next partners meeting in my new hometown of Miami this December.

Cheers,

David
